Screening for a pandemic should be routine medical care? More than 20 years into the struggle to prevent HIV transmission, and we finally start making gains toward incorporating that prevention into daily medical practice. Correction: we still aren't doing anything, buttalking about it. Still, why has it taken so long for the CDC to put this on the table?

I find the story about HIV and pregnancy interesting.
In addition to that obvious good news, I had no idea it was possible to avoid transmission of the virus from mother to child with antiretroviral drugs.
Awareness and testing are obviously not where they need to be worldwide, but it is good to know the science is progressing and people who have treatment available to them are living longer with better quality of life.
I wonder how much education and medication could be paid for with all the money we've spent on Iraq.
